In 1975 a young Hugh Holland drove up to Laurel Canyon Boulevard, Los Angeles and became captivated by skateboarders carving up the drainage ditches on the side of a canyon. He immediately knew he had stumbled upon something great.

The next three years that followed, Holland documented skateboarders surfing the streets of LA, San Fernando Valley, Venice Beach, San Francisco and Baja California, Mexico. Hugh perfectly encapsulated the skate scene of 1970's Cali in his photographs.

Assembled in the depths of Brooklyn NY in 2008, The Drums, since their debut have been an in-house favourite band at Angus Black.

Like Foals meets The Smiths in a maddening collision, The Drums have a style from both worlds, that is reflected both musically and in their dress style.

This week we want to pay homage to Drums not only for their music, but for the creativity and boldness with which they dress they dress themselves.

From saddle shoes and cuffed denim to punk boots, shorts and trench coats, these guys are worth keeping an eye on for style inspiration.
